Named for Carmen Miranda—the Brazilian samba singer, dancer, and film star whose trademark was an elaborate hat made from fruit—this original non-alcoholic cocktail packs just about every citrus from the fruit bowl into one tart and tasty drink. It's balanced by the sweet, creamy, almond-y goodness of orgeat, and the botanical depth of our alcohol-free New Orleans and Orange bitters.

As citrus is the star of this show, freshly squeezed juice is always preferable, but this'll be plenty tasty if you want to use bottled stuff instead.

Named for the Brazilian singer's famous fruit basket hat, this sour packs the whole citrus family in for a party.

Ingredients

1 ½ ounces orange juice
1 ounce grapefruit juice
¾ ounce lemon juice
½ ounce lime juice
¾ ounce orgeat syrup
3 dashes All The Bitter Orange bitters
4 dashes All The Bitter New Orleans bitters

Directions

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake until chilled.
Fine strain (through a mesh sieve) into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with a cherry and orange peel.

Recipe Note

Freshly squeezed juice is always best, but the bottled stuff will work in a pinch.

Simple syrup could be used instead of the orgeat, but the almond flavor of orgeat really adds a lot to this non-alcoholic drink. If it's not already on your bar cart, it should be! You can find orgeat at any major liquor store and there are lots of options available online, but our favorite is from Liber & Co.

Want to add a creamy texture to this drink? Include 1/2 ounce of aquafaba (chickpea water) or egg white in the shaker and shake for 20 seconds without ice, then add ice and shake again until chilled.

MAKE IT MINDFULLY LOW ALCOHOL
Simply add 3/4 ounce of your favorite spirit to this drink! Vodka, rum, or tequila will probably work best.
