Ever wonder how non-alcoholic spirits fare in traditionally spirit-forward drinks? Surprisingly, with the right combination of ingredients, you can create deeply satisfying 'boozy' mocktail recipes. Our non-alcoholic aperitif, the Aphrodite, is a great example. This sophisticated drink is an elegant twist on the Adonis, blending Martini Floreale with non-alcoholic sweet vermouth, like Roots Divino or Lyre's Aperitif Rosso, along with our Lavender bitters. The result is a bittersweet, herbal, and floral non-alcoholic cocktail that's perfect for leisurely sipping.
The Aphrodite demonstrates that non-alcoholic cocktails, particularly ones that utilize bold ingredients like Martini Floreale, don't have to fall back on the typical juice, grenadine, and soda-based mocktail recipes of yesteryear. They can be just as complex and satisfying as their alcoholic counterparts. So, whether you're doing a Dry January or simply exploring the world of mocktails, give this non-alcoholic cocktail recipe a try for a refreshing change.
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass, add ice, and stir for 15-20 seconds.
Strain into a coupe or Nick and Nora glass and garnish with a lemon twist.
Recipe Note
What makes a great spirit-forward non-alcoholic cocktail? First, the non-alcoholic spirits have to be enjoyable on their own. If you wouldn't drink it straight, it's going to be an uphill battle trying to turn it into a satisfying 'boozy' cocktail.
In this example, Martini Floreale and the sweet vermouth alt (either Roots Divino or Lyre's Aperitif Rosso) are sippable on their own. When combined, and enhanced with a couple dashes of bitters, the rich body and floral flavors of Floreale mix with the darker herbal characteristics of sweet vermouth to make a satisfying aperitif style non-alcoholic cocktail.
MAKE IT MINDFULLY LOW ALCOHOL The Aphrodite can easily be made very low-alcohol by using regular sweet vermouth and Martini Floreale. However the inspiration for this non-alcoholic cocktail, the classic Adonis, is already a low-ABV cocktail and makes a great choice if you're looking for something less boozy.
